Dear Shantanu,

Thank you for your petition - Develop an official written Constitution in the United Kingdom for governance.

Before we can accept your petition, we’ll need to make a few changes, to ensure your petition meets our standards. If you accept our changes, your petition will read as follows:

Develop an official written Constitution in the UK

We believe that we have an unwritten Constitution foisted upon the people and this is wrong morally. We think a written Constitution is needed that outlines the relationships between the Head of State and Parliament (both Houses) and in terms of their inter-connections with the Security Services, Judicial and other State institutions.

We think a unwritten constitution allows certain groups to have too much power. With a written constitution people are fully informed on what to expect from the State and what is expected of them to the State. With a written Constitution people could be fully informed on who is in charge of procedures in Parliament and other state bodies; and who a citizen can successfully prosecute in civil and criminal courts.

If you are happy to accept that suggestion, let me know and I will publish your petition. If you would like something different, let me know and we can discuss the wording.

Best wishes,

Jodie
