Hello Shantanu,

I am writing today regarding your application to join the Liberal Democrats. As part of the Federal structure of the Liberal Democrats, any application to join is covered by one of the three State Parties, and in this case it would be the English Party.

I’m the Vice Chair of the Liberal Democrats in England, and Chair of the Regional Parties Committee, which has delegated responsibility for Membership matters.

The RPC has considered your application for membership and has voted to reject it.

Your application has therefore been refused. This is on the basis that:

you are a member of a Political Party other than the Liberal Democrats

your values may not align with the fundamental values and objectives of the Liberal Democrats

your admission to the Liberal Democrats in England would be likely to bring the Party into disrepute

You have the right to appeal this decision to the English Appeals Panel. Any appeal must be made within 14 days and on the correct form.

For the avoidance of any doubt, you are not currently a member of the Liberal Democrats, or any local, regional, or state party of the Liberal Democrats.
